One of the least sexy items a person concerned with emergency preparedness needs to have kicking around is a good supply of extension cords. They are an item with a single use, but something that gets used and abused year round. Whether being buried in the snow to run Christmas inflatables. Sitting outdoors in -40 whether plugged into my vehicles block heater making sure it will start. Or sitting out doors during the hottest months of the year plugged into our pool filter.
When testing out a new extension cord, there are a few attributes that I look for. First is it visible. Second does it light up. Third is a thick enough gauge to run any 15 amp appliance. Fourth It is made to handle extreme temps. Fifth Is a reasonable price. And one bonus point, does it have more than a single outlet on the end.
My go to for quite some time was the yellow jacket 25′ lighted end cord. They are awesome and you can’t go wrong with them. However one day on amazon I came across a new brand I hadn’t heard of, it met all the requirements I was looking for, as well it had a three way splitter on the end and it was a couple of bucks cheaper than my Yellow Jacket
The DEWENWILS 25′ 14/3 Tri Split Lighted End Extension cord has become my go to quality/value extension cord. It meets all my needs, is durable enough to last and most importantly just a bit cheaper than the comparable products on the market
