There are a few tools that I use while painting that make the process suck just a little less. A good quality angled brush, the Handy Paint Pail and the Roller Keeper.
When doing large painting jobs any product or tool that can help you save time is a winner in my books. A lot of my painting in done rehabbing rental units, where I go through and paint the same neutral colors in multiple rooms over multiple days.
I will paint for a couple of hours, get called away for another job and come back a few days later. I started by keeping the bag the roller came in and putting it back over the paint filled roll. That was OK but those bags are thin enough, there was usually an unseen hole and the air would eventually get in.
I then graduated to plastic grocery bags, they worked better as I could tie them around the roller but they were rather messy to deal with once removed. So I eventually settled on the Roller Keeper.
When I am working over multiple days it is a huge time saver to be able to just slide that roller into the tube and leave it there. It’s air tight so no worry about drying out or paint leaking. Its contains all the mess and allows you to squeeze the tube from the outside to remove the roller without needing to get paint on anything. Then when ready to reuse the roller you just stick the end of the roller cage down into the tube and slide it on. No Fuss No Muss.
The Roller Keeper is another one of those products that’s inexpensive and won’t change your life completely. But it certainly makes a task that a lot of people dislike a little bit more tolerable.
