Once you start down the rabbit hole of cordless tools, eventually you will land at a place where you have a pile of batteries and a need to get serious with keeping them charged.
It started with an Impact Driver and Drill Kit two Christmases ago that came with two 1.5 AH batteries. Then it lead into a circular saw, and once I dipped my toe into landscaping gear I knew there was not turning back.
I had high drain, high capacity batteries which is great but If I truly wanted them to replace my gas powered gear I needed a way to charge them all. Most tools I bought came with a charger included, but a trend i noticed was the chargers quite often were under powered and incredibly slow. If I put the 6AH Flex Volt battery on the wrong charger it could cost me hours. So I started looking for a solution.
Last Christmas I got the Dewalt Four Port Rapid Charger. And I immediately fell in love. It takes up to four batteries of 12V, 20V or 60V variety, and the best part is they each charge individually. If you have one or four batteries on there it takes the same time. With four batteries getting charged it draws around 650 Watts, which means it can run off an 800 watt automotive inverter.
The best part is it will charge a 5AH battery in around 45 mins, so with most of my landscaping gear, other than the FLEX VOLT straight shaft heavy duty trimmer, i can’t run a battery dry in 45 mins. I now have three FLEX VOLT batteries 6’s and a 9AH battery and that combined with the Dewalt Four Port Charger keeps me going all day long.
